iPhone is Frozen

Problem: One of our employees came to me with a frozen iPhone. It was stuck on a process and would not budge. Tried to power it off by pressing the sleep button for a few seconds but no response.
Solution: Held down the Sleep and the Home button for what seemed like 10 seconds or so and then it forced a hard reset. He told me he tried that but I’m thinking that he didn’t hold it down long enough.
Only 4 more days until the Worldwide Developers’ Conference and hopefully Steve jobs will announce the 3G iPhone. Already have my request filled out to get it purchased from AT&T.
