Sunrocket Dead; What now?
As many have heard the 2nd largest indepent VOIP provider bit the dust about two weeks ago. I was unfortunately one of the “victims” of this Enron like callapse. Lucky for me, I was with sunrocket for almost a year and I fell I got my money’s worth. Too bad because I hardly had any trouble with it and the voice quality was just as good as a land line. Some others would disagree but that was mine and my families experience. I know many people are still wondering what to do and there is talk about Sunrockets reocmmendation for users to move to packet8 or teleblend. I chose the teleblend route and so far so good. I never lost service at all during this whole ordeal and service improved a bit when I switched to teleblend. Be prepared for long wait times for support calls. Word is they are taking tens of thousands of calls each day. Below is a forum post from a for sunrocket employee who is doing some PR for teleblend now. These threads might clear things up for any of you that still wondering “who the hell is teleblend?”
(2/13/07) Follow-up: I have now been using Teleblend for well over 9 months and have only experienced 1 issue and it was resolved pretty quickly. The only issue that they will have if they want to expand is there support. They don’t offer telephone or email support on the weekends and I’ve tried getting support from them twice over email and never heard back from them. The service is stable though and that is the only reason why I’m sticking with them.
